The price of beauty. With his Rad van Wonden|r, Camiel Corneille shows that bizarre paradox of physical perfection and suffering: we so want to be the best version of ourselves, but what is the price we pay for it?

For his installation, Camiel was inspired by Vitruvius’ Man, the embodiment of perfect beauty. And by the medieval torture wheel, on which bodies were broken. Through physical effort and control, the wheel is set in motion, and the body is master, perfect. Until the spinning rings become too heavy, untenable, and the body is a victim, suffers. But man will refuses to give up his quest and

the battle between perfection and torture goes on endlessly.
