LA CUCINA DELL’ INFERNO
In the Garden of Earthly Delights, purgatory flickers and heavy metal bangs resound. On, at and around the mighty works of art by Atelier van Lieshout, the chefs of the Spice Masters work up a sweat. In their hellish pop-up restaurant Cucina dell’ Inferno, they prepare heavenly extraordinary dishes, devilishly delicious food.
Just as Hieronymus Bosch depicted the Middle Ages in a raw and peppery way in his paintings, the Spice Masters concoct their dishes in the Garden of Earthly Delights. For their wild preparations they visit the farthest corners of the palette of flavours, cooking the ingredients in their Spartan cooking pots with fury and ferocity. No coquettish flamboyance here, but tasty, surprising dishes that will delight your taste buds.
TERRACE AND HOTTUBS
But above all, it is also lovely to be in the sun in the Garden of Earthly Delights. Enjoy a drink on the terraces along the water’s edge. Splash with your friends in one of the steaming hot tubs. Bring your children along, who can play and tinker in complete safety.
FINAL RITUAL
Every Parade day (16 to 19 June) ends in the Garden of Earthly Delights. When the last work of art from the Bosch Parade enters the harbour, a spectacular and atmospheric closing ritual follows.
In shorter and longer fragments, you will be taken through a series of musical and theatrical performances. Sometimes grand, sometimes minimalistic. Sometimes astonishing, sometimes poetic. Without a storyline, but with cohesion – like the Bosch Parade itself. So that you form your own image here too, and undergo a unique experience with many.
The closing ritual is a concept by Miesjel van Gerwen, Martin Hierck (direction) and Dyane Donck (composer), Daniël Cross (assistant composer) and Vera Hofman (assistant Aart Strootman).
Made possible by:
Cellist Petronella Torin, vocalist Marcel Duijghuisen, pyrotechnician Lieven Slabbink and technician Maarten Blom.
