Present day artist are busy creating new art work for Bosch Parade, to surprise and move audiences just like Jheronimus Bosch (+/- 1450 – 1516) did, over 500 years ago – and still does. The Bosch Parade 2021 theme will be ‘Temptation’. Bosch’s masterpiece ‘The Temptation of Saint Anthony’ (+/- 1501) is the main source of inspiration. The temptations depicted by Bosch in this triptych manifest themselves in a wide variety of ways. The same will happen in this year’s parade. Young talents and artists laureate together are making Bosch Parade into a sampling of modern day temptations.

The young artist Krista Smulders and her exuberant colour scheme is connecting to the endless temptations of our consumer society, whereas Joep van Lieshout (Atelier Van Lieshout) is translating the attraction of brutal force into a shocking image. A greater contrast is barely imaginable.

About Bosch Parade

The sailing parade honours the genius and innovative spirit of the artist Jheronimus Bosch AND the town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. This medieval water city, that is also a stronghold, creates a splendid scene for our sailing parade created by artists from the town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, from the province of North-Brabant and indeed from all over the world – all of this in the true Brabantian tradition of cooperation between the city and its inhabitants. Bosch Parade wishes to inspire everyone to have an open and critical look at his/her own world – just like Jheronimus did back in his day.
